Cape Town City halted a four-match losing run in the Betway Premiership with a 1-1 draw against TS Galaxy on Wednesday evening.
Thulani Serero made the match-day squad for the first time since joining the Citizens, who welcomed back Lorenzo Gordinho from suspension.
Venezuelan Darwin Gonzalez looked to give the host the ideal start in the opening-quarter through a half-volley from the area, but he missed target altogether.
Rockets turned from the slow opening and saw versatile Mpho Mvelase threaten the lead with a smartly worked effort that drew goalkeeper Darren Keet to a save.
Gonzalez made up for the earlier miss on the half-hour mark to put the host in the driving seat through a nicely constructed finish.
The lead lasted all but nine minutes as midfield hard-man Mlungisi Mbunjana pounced on a second-ball following a corner-kick and applied a close-range finish.
Youngster Siphamandla Dondolo could've restored the lead ten minutes from the break with a smart effort from Nathan Fasika's corner, but he went wide.
City then introduced Serero to make his debut for the club inside the midway point of the second half and removed Fortune Makaringe.
A fair share of chances became the order of the day though with Fasika going over from a corner by Jaedin Rhodes.
Thereafter, the Rockets missed a golden chance when former Bafana Bafana winger Keagan Dolly dragged an inviting delivery from Kamogelo Sebelebeele well off the mark.
Given the moments either end, neither of the two outfits were able to get over the line and settled for a point apiece.
