According to his agent Ali Tlhoaele, Hlongwa has signed an 18-month contract with an option and joins Usuthu as a free agent after being handed his clearance at Stars.
"Luyanda Hlongwa has signed for AmaZulu," confirms Tlhoaele.
Hlongwa – who spent just six months at Stars after signing from Bloemfontein Celtic – has been brought in as a direct replacement for Mxolisi Mayongo whose contract was terminated at the end of November.
Meanwhile, Ugandan defender Timothy Batabaire is still training with Usuthu along with two Namibians.
