Kaizer Chiefs and Bidvest Wits could not be separated as the sides played to a 1-1 draw at Orlando Stadium on Wednesday evening.
Chiefs could not double their lead at the top of the Absa Premiership standings, but are still four points clear at the top.
The Amakhosi had the first decent attempt on goal with a quarter of an hour gone when Leonardo Castro got on to the end of a diagonal ball and drew a fine save from Ricardo Goss, who tipped ther ball over the bar.
Shortly before the mid-half interval, the ball was whipped in from the right-hand side and Chiefs centre-back Erick Mathoho rose highest but couldn't get enough on the header.
Chiefs took the lead in the 35th minute and deservedly so. Lebogang Manyama delivered a peach of a corner and Samir Nurkovic rose above Terrence Dzvukamanja at the near post to head in to the ground and in to the far corner.
Wits somehow failed to score right on the stroke of half-time after a chaotic goalmouth melee that resulted from Deon Hotto's free-kick which dipped in front of Daniel Akpeyi as Chiefs preserved their slender lead going in to the interval.
Two minutes after the interval, Khama Billiat got himself in on the action when the ball was cut back to him on the edge of the box but the Zimbabwean striker's effort was wild and sailed high in to the empty stands.
Shortly afterwards, Bienvenu Eva Nga, on as a second-half substitute, turned sharply in the box but his drive was brilliantly blocked by Mathoho.
Moments later, Castro went on a brilliant individual run, leaving Bafana Bafana skipper Thulani Hlatshwayo for dead with a deft drop of his shoulder, but his shot was saved by the legs of Goss.
Willard Katsande was brought down on the right-hand side on the hour mark. Substitute Dumisani Zuma crossed in to the box and the ball evaded everyone finding its way to the back post but Katsande could only blaze the volley wildly over the bar.
The Clever Boys were growing more and more in to the game as it progressed and were well on top in the final quarter of an hour.
Chiefs almost doubled their lead in the 88th minute. Wits gave the ball away sloppily on the halfway line, allowing Chiefs to break in a four-on-three situation. The ball was fed to Nurkovic on the left, who cut inside and curled the ball superbly towards the top left-hand corner but the ball unluckily richocheted off the crossbar.
And the Glamour Boys were made to pay moments later when Kgaogelo Sekgota whipped in the delivery from the right-hand side and Cole Alexander volleyed superbly in to the bottom right-hand corner to level matters and hand the Students a share of the spoils.
