Appollis update amid Chiefs, Esperance links

The latest update has been offered on the immediate future of Polokwane City's star attacker Oswin Appollis, who has been the subject of interest from local and international suitors.

Rise and Shine are putting in the final preparations for the upcoming 24/25 season. Despite heavy interest, they have managed to keep their most important players, who have also returned to pre-season training.

None so more important than Appollis, who contributed seven goals and five assists in 31 appearances to help the Limpopo outfit seal a top-eight finish.

The 22-year-old winger is believed to be a prime target for Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs however, it has since emerged that Chiefs are not alone in their pursuit of the speedy winger's signature, with Esperance having even made formal offers to City's hierarchy.

Speaking to media at the launch of the MTN8 on Wednesday, Mohafe revealed that the Bafana winger has resumed training with the team and is expected to stay at City but admitted that the final decision would not be up to him.

"I also heard that there is talk about him [and Espérance being interested]," coach Mohafe said.

"As I previously said, for me as a coach to release him, I will only allow him to go abroad. But that doesn't depend on me. it's not in my capacity. It's the management's decision to say he may or may not go.

"But what I know now is that he is staying put with the club."

"He is working 100 per cent and is willing to play against Sundowns. He is willing to play against the other teams in the league, but his mind is still with Polokwane City," added Mohafe.

The match will be played at Lucas Moripe Masterpieces Stadium.
