Polokwane City have engaged into crucial gear towards retaining Mozambican midfielder Manuel ‘Telles’ Kambala.
Kambala has been a key factor for Polokwane again this season missing just a single match in all competitions digging deep for the club in the 2023/24 campaign.

Such has been the influence that the 33-year-old has had at the Limpopo club that he has been captain along the way.
His efforts have come with acknowledgement from Mozambique’s national team coach Chiquinho Conde, who has included Kambala in his squad for the friendly match against Bafana Bafana on June 10 at Loftus.
In between his return to the national team, Kambala has an agreement in place to remain at City.
The club has agreed to hand the midfield enforcer a two-year deal with fresh terms favourable to what he asked for to stay.
In recognition of his efforts, Polokwane have agreed with a deal in principle done, which will come as a two-year deal.
Kambala has made known his demands to the club, where he is amongst the seniors that Phuti Mohafe is begging on staying for the new season.
There is standing interest in Kambala from back home, where one club had already matched the package that he has had at Polokwane in the last years.
The other options have come from the Betway Premiership with another club having made enquiries.

Kambala was faced with a similar situation at the end of the 2023/24 season before the club triggered the option of a further year.
The Mozambican is famously remembered for denying Kaizer Chiefs the 2019/20 title after his goal, while at Baroka FC, meant Amakhosi didn't collect the three points they needed to pip Mamelodi Sundowns to the title.
