'Ouaddou is setting himself up for failure'

Orlando Pirates legend Benedict 'Tso' Vilakazi warns the club's head coach, Abdeslam Ouaddou, not to change last season's line-up just to accommodate the new signings.

Ezimnyama Ngenkani have lost both their opening Betway Premiership matches in Marumo Gallants FC and Sekhukhune United.

On Saturday, the Buccaneers face Mamelodi Sundowns in the first leg of the MTN8 Cup semi-finals.

"Yesterday's game I don't know if the plan was to save the key players for Saturday, we all have our priorities," Vilakazi tells KickOff.

"But the Pirates coach can't have priorities since he hasn't won the club anything yet. Once you fail to win the league this season you are finished.

"The only thing that can buy him time now is the MTN8, but if it doesn't happen, they are in trouble. I will understand if he saved the regular players last night for the weekend game.

"As a coach, you come to a new team that finished in the top four in the Champions League, a team that finished second in the league, a team that won trophies, and you decide to immediately change it, how are you going to win?

"Oswin Appollis and Sipho Mbule are good players, but let them work for their positions so that there can be competition for places in the team," Tso added.

According to the legend, the Moroccan is setting himself up for failure.

"If you are changing the team now at the start of the new season, what are you saying to the guys who did well for the team last season? You are going to divide your dressing room. You are going to start a problem.

"The coach and the management need to be smart in how they introduce the new players to the team. What coach Ouaddou is doing now is setting himself up for failure."
