The midfielder passed away on September 3, 2007 following a car accident just outside Alberton after a CAF Confederation Cup match against Cameroonian side Astres Douala.
Leremi started his career at Pimville Giants in Soweto, where he was spotted by Orlando Pirates' development coach Augusto Palacios.
Palacios wasted no time in recruiting the player for the Buccaneers, where he would achieve great success, including winning the League title in his debut season, in 2002/03.
When Kosta Papic’s Pirates side came close from winning the League in 2005/06, Leremi had a sterling season alongside Joseph ‘Duku-Duku’ Makhanya.
The player would go on to win four Bafana Bafana caps, having been a regular for Amaglug-glug, before moving to Mamelodi Sundowns in 2007. When Sundowns won the 2007 SAA Supa 8, they dedicated the win to Leremi.
His death came just four years after that of another great talent, Lesley Manyathela, who also passed away following a car accident.
