Pirates midfielder’s intriguing dim exit

KickOff.com has established that Karim Kimvuidi’s move to Israel has come on a loan arrangement with his contract at Orlando Pirates still running.

Kimvuidi has linked up with FC Ashdod in the Israeli Ligat ha’Al (top tier league).

The Congolese played in the Toto Cup over the weekend against Hapoel Tel Aviv and will be staying for the rest of the season on a loan deal.

This website has since established that the 23-year-old has moved in a deal initiated after he expressed his desire to move.

It has also been established that while Kimvuidi is into the third year of his contract there is still an option of a further two years.

While he has moved out on loan, Kimvuidi has done so having not enjoyed the best of his time at the club last term.

So bad was his situation last season that he didn’t get any minutes in 37 matches and played 90 minutes just once.

This is what then led to discussions about his possible exit with a price tag in the region of R7 million placed with Pirates having also spent millions in bringing him in from Maritzburg in 2023.

TP Mazembe from his homeland have made enquiries while Algerian club JS Kabyile also asked about him.

Kimvuidi has been tasked with getting his club career in place for him to be considered for the DR Congo national team with next year's World Cup in mind as The Leopards have taken firm control in the qualifiers.

He spent pre-season with Pirates and even travelled to Spain after getting his visa at the eleventh hour.

Ashdod will have an option of turning his loan into a permanent deal should they be keen.
