Orlando Pirates were unable to secure a win in their final home game after drawing 1-1 with TS Galaxy on Saturday afternoon.
Patrick Maswanganyi came in for Makhehlene Makhaula as Pirates' only change from the big win over Golden Arrows on Tuesday.
The Buccaneers, now under Mandla Ncikazi, looked to hit the opener on three minutes, however Tshegofatso Mabasa found the side-netting after attacking a corner-kick.
Galaxy went close too after eight minutes where a half-volley around the six-yard area by Khayelihle Ncube fizzled wide of Sipho Chaine’s goal.
Both teams struggled to carve out clear-cut chances as the first period went by, with the tempo of the clash starting feel like a pre-season clash.
The Rockets went close to taking the lead five minutes to halftime when a glancing header by Victor Letsoalo flew narrowly wide of target.
Interestingly, a goalkeeping change by the Buccaneers ahead of the second half saw Chaine make way for Melusi Buthelezi, while Mpho Mvelase came on for Ncube on the side of Galaxy.
Nhlanhla Mgaga looked to hit the opener from way out of the box, but he didn’t trouble Buthelezi, while the Buccaneers responded to the scare a little later and had Mabasa snapped wide of the mark following a combination with Maswanganyi.
Pirates proved decisive towards the closing quarter when Bandile Shandu worked his way into the area, beat the offside trap and finished off Mohau Nkota’s delivery.
Keagan Dolly looked to level matters and came close through a curling drive outside the area, but it went well wide.
The Buccaneers almost bagged a second goal in the final four minutes through a one-on-one attempt by Deon Hotto off Mofokeng’s lay-off, but he was denied by Ira Tape.
Pirates' lead was scrapped deep in added time as former defender Mvelase capitalised on a lapse of concentration at the back fired home to secure a point for Galaxy.
