SuperSport United midfielder Reneilwe Letsholonyane is far from being in a comfort zone

The 36-year-old is likely to start against Cape Town City in the final at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday and his experience will no doubt be important for a Matsatsantsa side looking to defend the title they won last year.

Despite achieving so much in his career and featuring in many knockout competition finals, Letsholonyane still gets nervous.

In fact, the former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder says he’d be worried if he was no longer feeling nervous ahead of big matches such as the one on Saturday.

“Normally you hear people saying if something does not scare you, then it’s not real,” Letsholonyane tells snl24.com/kickoff.

“It’s the same with me; there’s that moment where you get nervous because I know it’s a real thing and it’s something I want so bad. And then at the back of my mind there’s obviously the question ‘what if it does not happen?’

“So that’s where the nerves come from, but I think it’s normal to feel that way. So yes, I still get nervous because I always want to win. If I was not getting nervous, then I was going to be worried.”

He adds: “If you are too comfortable, then a lot of things won’t get done. You end up being mediocre.”
