Letsholonyane scored the winning spot kick in the MTN8 penalty shootout against Mamelodi Sundowns in 2008, winning his first trophy in the PSL.
Since then, Letsholonyane has won all of the domestic trophies on offer and is looking to add another one to his ever growing list of titles when Matsatsantsa take on Cape Town City in Durban tomorrow night (19h00).
“Ten years later … it’s a good feeling to me as a player because not often do you get this opportunity to play for this long in this league. Once you play this long, rarely do you get opportunities to still play in cup finals,” the 36-year-old tells snl24.com/kickoff.
“In the past three seasons, I have been in four or five cup finals and I am happy with how things have gone in my life and career and how things are still going at the moment. Of course there have been challenges that have made me a stronger and a better person. Without those challenges, we as people get comfortable and we think we are on top of the world. You need to stay humble and keep working hard. Being in the final 10 years later makes me happy and it’s a proud moment for me. ”
Letsholonyane says City have not changed much since their meeting in the MTN8 final last year.
“In terms of how they play they have not really changed much. Obviously they’ve added some young exciting players to their team. They are a good team and they have been doing well. It’s going to be a tough one for us to win it,” Letsholonyane says.
