Ronwen Williams wants to make CAF history with SuperSport United in the Confederation Cup

SuperSport claimed MTN8 honours by beating Cape Town City 4-2 on penalties in the final at Moses Mabhida Stadium over the weekend.

Matsatsantsa next face Tunisian outfit Club Africain in the second leg of the Confederation Cup semi-finals at Stade de Rades on Sunday. The teams drew 1-1 in the first meeting in Tshwane a fortnight ago.

Williams, who starred with two saves in the shootout win over City, is determined to help United make history on the continent.

"The CAF Confederation Cup is there and we can taste it, it’s a few weeks to go," said Williams, who added the MTN8 trophy to his collection of three Nedbank Cup crowns and one Telkom Knockout title.

"We need to write history, we need to put SuperSport on the map.

"SuperSport is one of the bigger teams in the country. Maybe we don't have as much support in the country as others, but we are one of the bigger teams and our history speaks for itself.

"We've been in the last five cup finals, so I'm proud of being part of this team."
