AmaZulu edged Cape Town City 2-1 in extra-time and booked their spot in the MTN8 semi-finals on Saturday afternoon.
Four days from their win over Kaizer Chiefs, the Citizens made no changes from the eleven that played that day but Abbubaker Mobara, Keagan Buchanan and Bonginkosi Ntuli returned for Usuthu.
AmaZulu though were ahead on eight minutes when Gabadinho Mhango played Augustine Kwem in and the Nigerian applied a turn and angle and finished beyond City goalkeeper Darren Keet.
City looked to claw a way back a little later and saw a move between Terrence Mashego, Darwin Gonzales and Wayde Lekay nearly bear fruits.
The Citizens weren't done surging forward after the half-hour mark with Usuthu unable to coordinate their defensive shape and had Nathan Fasika head over from a corner.
AmaZulu were still pinned back on the stroke of halftime and succumbed after Khanyisa Mayo volleyed in at the back-post following Lekay's clever assist.

Usuthu brought in a substitution before the start of the second period, as former Kaizer Chiefs full-back Ramahlwe Mphahlele came on for Mobara.
The Citizens applied pressure earlier on in the half and were nearly ahead when Mayo's left-footed curler from the far side hit the top of the net amidst a scrambling Veli Mothwa.
City still enjoyed the lion share of chances in the latter periods and could've gone in front from Brice Ambina's teasing effort wide of the area, but Mothwa parried.
Tampers began to boil over in the closing stages with tackles from either side flying in before a flying shot on-the-turn from Kwem forced a smart save from Keet, as the match went into extra-time.
AmaZulu could've won it in the last ten minutes of extra-time when substitute Lehlohonolo Majoro burst through the area and lobbed Keet before Taariq Fielies blocked his path to goal.
The veteran striker made amends minutes later as he pounced on a loose ball by Keet who had spilled Mhango's flying shot around the area and tapped home.
In the end, Usuthu managed the final seconds of extra-time and booked their spot in the semi-finals of the MTN8 2022.
