Kaitano Tembo targeting first major title as head coach of SuperSport United

SuperSport United coach Kaitano Tembo is determined to see the club reaching it's third consecutive MTN8 final, while also hoping he can win his first piece of silverware as a head coach.

Matsatsantsa have featured in the last two finals of the MTN8, twice against Cape Town City. They won it on penalties in 2017, and lost it in the shootout the following year. Last season's edition was the first for Tembo as head coach and he will be hoping for better luck this time, if Matsatsantsa can reach the final.

To get to the final, they need to overcome Tshwane rivals Mamelodi Sundowns over two-legs in the semi-finals, starting this afternoon at Lucas Moripe Stadium (15h00).

"Our attitude and my attitude has always been to do well in every game we play. On a personal level, I think I'd want to win something for the club, because I think I've got a good group of players, a bunch of good professionals. I think they also deserve to win something and this cup gives us an opportunity to do that," Tembo said.

"We've been into the final [for the previous two years]. We won it the one year and we lost it in the other and again we another opportunity to try win it. It starts with the game against Sundowns and I think it's really important for us to focus on that game. We need to put out a performance that will give us an opportunity to get into the final."
