Kaitano Tembo laments Downs' away goal

SuperSport United coach Kaitano Tembo was disappointed with conceding an away goal just after they went ahead against Mamelodi.

Thamsanqa Gabuza handed SuperSport the lead in the 41st minute before Gason Sirino hit back a minute later for the away side in the MTN8 semi-final first leg.

"We had chances to win the game, first half we dominated. I was a little bit disappointed with the goal we conceded, because critical phases of the game, soon after scoring, we conceded," the Zimbabwean tactician told SuperSport TV after the match.

"The critical phases of the game, where we're supposed to be focused, we went to sleep there and they got an equaliser. But other than that, I think we played a good game today. We created chances to win the game but there's still another 90 minutes, it's not over yet," he continued.

"Compared to the first game, we're improving game by game. We're picking up gradually which is important for us.

"Now we have a big break but unfortunately we have about nine players going to play for their respective national teams teams. It's a little bit hectic. I'm happy with the progress we have made."

Tembo also revealed that former Orlando Pirates winger Thabo 'Section10' Qalinge, who made his United debut off the bench late in the game, is going to play an important role in his team.

"He's been unfortunate with injuries but we need to bring him in gradually, he's going to play an important role. You know in the last ten minutes Evans Rusike was getting tired, so we wanted 'Section' to get behind [Tebogo] Langerman because he started to go forward when Rusike got tired. With a little bit of luck and [better] decision-making, he could have created an opportunity for us," he concluded.
