Jose Riveiro reveals Pirates game-plan ahead of MTN8

Pirates will take on Royal AM for the second time this season. Thwihli Thwahla has proven themselves as somewhat of a dark horse and the last time the sides met, the Buccaneers escaped with a narrow 1-0 victory.

Although stakes are slightly higher than just three points this time around, Buccaneers' head coach Jose Riveiro has indicated that he'll be approaching the clash with similar tactics.

"They [Royal Am] are, in my eyes, a difficult team to deal with when they have the ball. So our intention is going to be to try and minimize the time they are in possession. It woke a decent amount of time during the last game And we're going to try and repeat the same idea," he told journalists.

"We played [against royal AM] one week ago. In that period, neither of the two teams have really had time to train or implement many changes or at least we don't have so much time to do it on the field, so we can't expect big changes in both teams.

"Even though I'm sure we've both learned certain things bout selves. We know much more about Royal AM as I'm sure they know much more about us now.

"I don't think there is going to be many differences in how the teams approach the game on Saturday

The MTN8 is the only piece of silverware the buccaneers have held in the last seven years.

Pirates defeated Bloemfontein Celtics to win the 2020 MTN8, and they will be hoping to beat the first hurdle on the track to replicating that success when they take Royal AM at the Chatsworth Stadium on Saturday.

Match kick-off is scheduled for 18:00.
