Wits have gotten off to a disappointing start thus far, having yet to win a match in regulation time, and are in danger of being eliminated from the MTN8.
The reigning top eight champions scraped past Golden Arrows via a penalty shootout in their season opener, before losing both their league game and cup first-leg tie to Cape Town City, in between which they drew with Free State Stars.
Following the completion of the recent international break, the Clever Boys return to action when they host The Citizens in their MTN8 semi-final second leg on Sunday, trailing 1-0 from the reverse fixture.
Hunt is wary that, given their success last season, teams are now out to take them down, but believes once the season hits free flow they will be able to build some impetus in their campaign.
“Any game we play teams will want to [try and outplay us]… I mean, we played Golden Arrows and they were unbelievable, Free State Stars were like men possessed,” Hunt said at the club’s media day.
“That’s what we’re going to get. When you play against a team that has won the league, people will have extra motivation.
“But once we start settling in, and we start playing two to three games a week, I think we’ll see a lot of things happening. Then teams can’t keep that intensity up every game.”
The Absa Premiership Coach of the Season has thus urged his senior players to step up and help the team at the crucial moments during matches.
“There’s definitely [added pressure on us], it’s always like that and so it should be. You want that pressure, don’t you? We want that,” he added.
“We’ve got big players who can handle the situation, it’s a matter of the big players stepping up a little more and that’s pretty much what it’s about."
