Usuthu have lodged an urgent application to interdict the start of the MTN8 competition, which is scheduled to kick off on Saturday, with the South Gauteng High Court.
The Durban-based side are contesting their absence from the list of quarterfinal fixtures, after they were ousted from eighth-place on last season's log, due to Advocate William Mokhari's arbitration award released in May.
With Ajax Cape Town having been docked seven points, and those awarded to Polokwane City, SuperSport United and Platinum Stars respectively, AmaZulu were subsequently replaced by Matsatsantsa, who jumped up to seventh-place.
While the Urban Warriors' matter is now being appealed by the Premier Soccer League, AmaZulu took their own grievances to court as they believe they still have a right to feature in the competition.
The matter was today heard by Judge Denise Fisher, who previously ruled in favour of Ajax before granting the PSL leave to appeal, but judgement has since been reserved for Wednesday at 14h00.
Should Fisher rule in favour of AmaZulu, this weekend's fixtures will be put on hold indefinitely, with legal action set to continue as the League will likely appeal any unfavourable decision.
