20-year-old to carry load at PSL club

Baroka FC are facing uncertainty regarding the availability of two of their most notable signings made prior to the beginning of the current season.

The 2018 Telkom Knockout have recently strengthened their goalkeeping department by bringing on board the duo of Mondli Mpoto and Badra Ali Sangare, who is an Ivorian international.

A source has informed this website that the two players are not yet available to feature in the matchday squad.

Sangare is still awaiting his work permit, and there is no clear timeline for when this will be issued.

Mpoto, meanwhile, is still waiting to be declared a free agent by the PSL following the expulsion from the league of his former club, Royal AM, last term.

It is for this reason that Baroka have raised concern as they find themselves having to rely heavily on Kgaogelo Sithol, who would otherwise have been third choice.

He is also only 20.

Mpoto joined on a two-year deal, while the 39-year-old Sangare is believed to be on a one-year contract.

The former is a regular feature in Bafana Bafana's Cosafa Cup and African Nations Championship squads, while Sangare helped Ivory Coast win the AFCON last year.

Furthermore, he played a key role in helping Free State Stars secure the Nedbank Cup in 2017/18.

Sekhukhune United was his last club.
