Cry baby or Genius, Pitso is not happy!

With Pitso Mosimane now the subject of a controversial new book, it appears that the South African coach’s camp has not taken the launch of the book well. Here’s a closer look.

The Story

A divisive book titled Pitso Mosimane: Cry Baby or Misunderstood Genius? has hit the shelves, prompting immediate condemnation from the coach’s entourage.

Authored by football journalist and award-winning author Hosea P. Ramphekwa, the book delves deeply into Mosimane’s career, presenting a polarising narrative about the former Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana boss.

A description on HoseaBooks.com suggests that Mosimane is as hated as he is loved.

The description reads: "Mosimane is loathed as much as he is loved in South Africa. He is an inspiration to some and an irritation to others. For most football followers, it’s been hard to put a label on the three-time CAF Champions League winning coach. Is Mosimane a warmonger, a sore loser, a cry baby, a master tactician, a misunderstood genius, a fighter, a winner, a legend of the game, a ruthless or relentless coach?"

However, the publication and launch of the book have not been well received by Mosimane’s side.

His representatives, MT Sports Marketing and Management, issued a statement clarifying that they had no involvement in the book’s creation.

The agency wrote on Instagram: "We want to place the following on record: Coach Pitso Mosimane was neither consulted, involved, nor asked to verify any details in this publication. While the book may focus on him, he is in no way associated with it and does not endorse it.

"At this time, Coach Pitso Mosimane has not reviewed the book's contents and reserves all his rights under South African law.

"As his representatives, we remain committed to protecting and upholding the integrity, reputation and professional legacy of Coach Pitso Mosimane.

"This statement is issued as his formal disassociation and notice of non-involvement in the book being launched, and to make his position unequivocally clear."
