'I know what the club has done for him' - Rulani on heated Erasmus flashpoint

Victorious Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena revealed he was left with a bittersweet feeling after a heated flashpoint with former striker Kermit Erasmus as the Brazilians clinched the Carling Black Label Cup on Saturday.

The Brazilians lifted their first-ever Carling Black Label Cup after a revamp of the exhibition tournament with a 4-0 thrashing of Orlando Pirates at the FNB Stadium.

Emerging young striker Cassius Mailula grabbed a brace as Grant Kekana scored from point-blank range after Sphelele Mkhulise opened the scoring against a 10-man Pirates side.

The Buccaneers were reduced to ten men when defender Tapelo Xoki received his marching orders for a nasty studs-up challenge in Haashim Domingo in the 20th minute.

The flashpoint saw an exchange between Mokwena and former player Erasmus as tempers flared from both sets of camps on the sidelines.

"Maybe it's better I don't talk about it, I've already made a comment and, it was disappointing because the tackle was not something you want to see from an opponent," Mokwena said post-match.

"Career-threatening tackles like that shouldn't be applauded but I was just a little bit disappointed and in how he [Kermit Erasmus] spoke to me, you know.

"I just felt I didn't deserve that, especially from him and that was my only, and that is why I feel in this moment bittersweet, as I know what the club has done for him."Or what I've personally done for him, I don't want to sit here and speak of some of the things but it's okay.

"I suppose that's what life is about, so we take it on the chin, and we move."

Mokwena further confirmed that Domingo was still being evaluated by the club's medical department with a prognosis on his injury status yet to be determined.
