Downs official survives sacking

Mamelodi Sundowns logistics and liaison officer Khaled Ali has resumed his duties after surviving the sack after allegations of misconduct.

Ali was hauled before the club's disciplinary committee following comments made on a Twitter Spaces chat relating to a CAF Champions League clash between Al Ahly and Al Hillal in March.

Ali is an influential figure at Chloorkop within the backroom staff, especially during continental trips to North Africa.

"It has come to the attention of Mamelodi Sundowns that certain remarks that its employee Khaled Ali, may have made during a social media discussion relating to Al Ahly and Al Hilal may be contrary to the ethics, governance, and rules of Mamelodi Sundowns, "read the statement from Mamelodi Sundowns in March.

"Mamelodi Sundowns views these alleged remarks and conducts them in a very serious light and is launching an immediate investigation to get exposed to the true facts.

"Khaled has been instructed to return from Sudan, report at the Sundowns offices at Chloorkop, and make himself available for the investigation.

"Sundowns will provide further information on this matter once the findings of the investigation are concluded."

According to a source close to Mamelodi Sundowns, Ali Khaled has been enjoying his work at Chloorkop since the incident and already started being involved in preparations for the CAF Champions League match against Waydad Casablanca this month.

"Khaled has never been suspended. He is a key member of the team. His presence has been a great help especially when the team travelled to North Africa. He is a big figure there, "said the source.

Meanwhile Mamelodi Sundowns are still yet to confirm the new role for Peter Ndlovu at the club.

Ndlovu was recently replaced by Thamie Khuzwayo as team manager.
