Mama Joy joins Siwelele's green wave?

Former Orlando Pirates super fan, Joy Chauke, affectionately known as Mama Joy, has once again set tongues wagging on social media after being spotted at a Siwelele FC match this week. Check it out!

The story

One of South Africa’s most recognisable football supporters, Mama Joy, became a free agent earlier this year after Royal AM was expelled from the Premier Soccer League due to financial and legal issues involving the South African Revenue Service (SARS).

Mama Joy made headlines in 2021 when she left the the Sea Robbers to support Royal AM, explaining that her move was in solidarity with fellow woman and club owner, Shauwn "MaMkhize" Mkhize.

Following the dissolution of Thwihli Thwahla, Chauke publicly declared that she would not pledge her loyalty to any club again. Instead, she announced her intention to channel her passion into supporting South Africa’s national teams, including Bafana Bafana and Banyana Banyana.

While some fans speculated she might make a sensational return to Pirates, Mama Joy has continued to take playful jabs at the Buccaneers on social media, particularly when they lose.

This week, however, speculation was reignited when she was seen standing in front of Siwelele FC’s team bus, decked out in green and white colours ahead of their match against newly promoted Orbit College.

Mama Joy later posted pictures of herself with a caption that simply read: "Watching Siwelele vs Orbit."

While she did not confirm any new club allegiance, her presence was enough to stir debate in the football community, with many believing she may be aligning herself with the Free State-based club, which carries on the legacy of Bloemfontein Celtic.

At this stage, it remains unclear whether Mama Joy has officially joined Siwelele or was merely showing support as a passionate football lover. Either way, her every move continues to grab attention in the South African football scene.
