The story
Dutch footballer Quincy Promise is facing close to a decade behind bars due to his alleged involvement in large-scale drug smuggling through the Antwerp port in Belgium. Accordingf to the De Telegraaf, he is alleged to have imported 1 361 kilograms of cocaine, worth a street value of £65 million (R1.5 billion)

Due to this, authorities back in his native country are unable to apprehend him in Russia, as there is no extradition agreement between the nation and Holland.
The trial for this case remains ongoing, however, Promes has already been convicted for the stabbing of his cousin. In June 2023, he sentenced to 18 months in prison but the marksman has refused to hand himself over to Netherlands police, according to the Daily Mail.
Interestingly, the 32-year-old does not look bothered at all by any of these scandals. On Instagram, his life looks opulent as ever, as he's been spotted flying in private jets, flaunting diamond jewellry, driving luxury, and visiting lush destinations.
Although avoiding capture, the former Sevilla winger seems to have not lost contact with some of his football friends. He is often seen engaging with Morocco and Galatasaray star Hakim Ziyech, as well as his compatriot Memphis Depay of Atletico Madrid.
