The 36-year-old has only ever played for Chiefs since making his PSL debut in August 2007, which was three years on from when he was promoted to the senior team after Brian Baloyi left for Mamelodi Sundowns.
From starting out as backup to Rowen Fernandez and then Emille Baron, Khune was then able to push himself to the front of the queue through the years lasting over a dozen years as first choice.
However, after building himself up to earning legendary status at Chiefs, the veteran keeper has found his fortunes dropping that so much that he had only played 14 games in the last two seasons having played 24 in the two years prior.

Khune has moved from signing three-year contracts that he has traditionally signed through the years down to two for his previous deal in 2021 and now onto just one year for the latest deal.
When he signed his previous contract two years ago, Khune took a cut on his package.
Khune had been in the top tier of earners at the club along with Khama Billiat, Samir Nurkovic, and Leonardo Castro at the time who were all on at least R5 million per annum but was immediately knocked off that seat when Keagan Dolly joined.
Instead of an increment on his package at that time, Khune's deal was restructured to a lower earning.
Then with the latest one-year deal, the former Bafana Bafana first-choice keeper's package has been reworked again to a lower scale following a further drop.
As it stands Khune has now taken consecutive salary cuts in the last two deals that he has signed at the club but will have the security of being absorbed into the club structures upon the end of his playing career.

Khune will not be in the top two earners ranks next season at Chiefs with those positions taken by Dolly and new Venezuelan signing Edson Castillo.
The Ventersdorp-born keeper has kept 127 cleans in 281 league games conceding 220 goals through that time.
The rest of his appearances have come in other competitions which include the MTN8, Telkom KnockOut, Nedbank Cup, and CAF club competitions.
While his game time minutes have dropped, Khune remains popular with fans.
