12 and counting: 'I want to help Chiefs win trophies'

Lebohang Maboe has set a clear mandate for his return to Kaizer Chiefs having joined from Betway Premiership rivals Mamelodi Sundowns via a brief stop at SuperSport United.

Maboe was unveiled last week as the 10th signing of the Soweto giants' transfer window.

Having arrived as a free agent, he is yet to make his debut at a club where  he was groomed in the junior ranks.

Speaking to journalists at a Nedbank handover of a multi-purpose sporting facility in Springs on Wednesday, the 30-year-old was clear that he intends to help the Soweto giants win trophies

"I think the team has honestly been doing well.

"Mine is just to leave the jersey in a better place than where I found it, which is winning silverware, which is good for the team and obviously putting smiles on the faces of our supporters," he declared.

Of course, the steely midfield man has all the credentials to back up the mandate.

He was part of a widely successful Sundowns side that collected an incredible 12 titles during his seven years at the club, where he racked up 183 appearances.

"For me, my contribution is more on the pitch. It's helping the young players and bringing in a winning mindset that says you are never enough. You just want to keep this winning feeling within your bloodstream."

Amakhosi, who return to continental football this season, believe the 30-year-old's experience will be vital this season.
