Chiefs assistant dedicates win to Nabi

Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Khalil Ben Youssef dedicated the team's 2-0 win over Stellenbosch to head coach Nasreddine Nabi.

A perfectly struck free-kick from Nkosingiphile Ngcobo and a stoppage-time penalty from Glodly Lilepo fired the Amakhosi to victory over the ten-man Stellenbosch.

With coach Nabi out of the country due to a family emergency, the victory was a tribute to him and his wife.

“I think first I have to say we promised all the family of Khosi that we’ll win this game for the coach and his wife and that should be better. We are so proud of our players, they did well I think they did very well,” Youssef told SuperSport TV.

“We suffered a little bit in the first half because when we scored when the opponent received a red-card, mentally we thought we had finished the game. We were lucky not to concede. In the second half, we changed a lot of things.

"Like I said we are proud for the fans, they did well all of them and we are also happy for the fans. When you see it’s always home, now we have finished the game and we start to think about the next game against Polokwane City. Just to take rest for two days and then think about the next game,” he continued.

The contribution of the substitutes was crucial too as the integration of the new arrivals like Siphesihle Ndlovu will make the team stronger this season.

“Yes, I think even the players that come from the bench before the game we discussed about the importance of the player that’s coming from the bench.

“I think all of them, I don’t have to say one by one even Mshishi’ we tried to make some substitution. He felt a little bit pain so we didn’t want to take the risks,” Youssef said.

“OX, Ndlovu – I think step-by-step with the new players come back for us I think this season will be better for us and well perform very well,” he added.
