Chiefs have to open cheque for Magesi striker

It looks like Kaizer Chiefs will have to fork out the money if they want to bring striker Wonderboy Makhubu on board at Naturena.

The 27-year-old is currently enjoying his best form with Magesi FC in the Betway Premiership.

Makhubu played a pivotal role when his side beat Mamelodi Sundowns by 2-1 to win the Carling Knockout Cup trophy in Bloemfontein last weekend.

The former University of Pretoria man is currently on loan at the Limpopo-based outfit from Sekhukhune United.

According to sources close to Makhubu, Chiefs have already made inquiries about the availability of the player, looking to pounce on his services when the transfer window period re-opens in January.

Despite his contract with Babina Noko expiring in June of next year, the club still enjoys a two-year option over his signature.

"Kaizer Chiefs have made contact with the player's representatives," said one source.

"Makhubu's contract with Sekhukhune United indeed expires in June. But the contract has an option. It's an open secret that Sekhukhune will exercise the option.

"If they do so, that means Kaizer Chiefs have to pay."

Makhubu scored 11 goals for Magesi last season and helped them gain promotion to the topflight this season.

He is set to lead the attack when the side take on Chippa United in a Betway Premiership match in East London on Saturday.
