Abraw, who spent two years at Kaizer Chiefs between 2015 and 2017, is currently plying his trade in the French Championnat National 3 (fifth division) with Ouset Tourangeau where he starred as one of the league's leading players last season.
The Togo international scored 15 goals in 22 league appearances for the 2021/22 campaign and was widely expected to once again lead the club's promotion push this season following a near-miss last time out.
However, those plans have been dealt a cruel blow after the 32-year-old suffered a serious injury to his Achilles tendon during the pre-season that will see him ruled out until the turn of the year, per local reports.
Abraw is expected to miss between five to seven months of action with the injury, which is believed to be similar to the Achilles rupture current Amakhosi defender S'fiso Hlanti suffered in November last year.
Hlanti ultimately spent nearly nine months on the sidelines while recovering from the blow before making his long-awaited return to the pitch during Chiefs' 1-1 (4-3) penalty shootout win over Stellenbosch FC last month in the MTN8 quarter-final.
Abraw, who also previously played for Free State Stars and AmaZulu in the South African top-flight, scored six times in 26 appearances across all competitions during his brief sting at Naturena.
