Both Mzambiya and Steve Lekoelea were at the top of their game when they got together to churn out their hit kwaito track ‘Jersey Number 10’.
Mzambiya was kwaito’s golden kid of the late 90s/early 2000s after rising to fame as a 12-year-old from Zola- home to other famous kwiato artists including Mdu, Zola and Mandoza.
Steve ‘Chippa’ Lekoelea’s silky skills in the black and white colours of Orlando Pirates made him a household name. He briefly wore the club’s no.10 jersey which inspired the song.
The pair were a match made in heaven where Mzansi pop culture was concerned at the time and added to the growing list of famous local players trying their hand behind the mic; some more successful than others. This collab definitely hit the sweet spot.
