Roc Nation Sports, a subsidiary of entertainment company Roc Nation owned by Jay-Z, has a new star on board after Jerome Boateng put pen to paper to join the likes of Rihanna and Kanye West on the roster.
The Bayern Munich defender is Roc Nation Sports’ first European-based athlete to sign for the company unsurprisingly dominated by US athletes including NBA MVP Kevin Durant, American Football quarterback Geno Smith and boxer Miguel Cotto.
And to add a personal touch on matters, the 26-year-old, flew to Jay-Z’s home in Los Angeles to close the deal and celebrate.
Speaking to Welt am Sonntag, Boateng revealed: “It was a great day with Jay Z. We could ask him anything. We talked mostly about music and football. Jay Z knows about football and has watched numerous games.
“America is a big market. With Jay-Z and Roc Nation I have a lot, we want to try what is possible.”
