Hip Hop Artist Drake made a multi million bet on the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner. Check it out!
What Happened?
Betting has become a big part of football with many clubs being sponsored by brands such as betway and bet.co.za.
Brentford striker Ivan Toney recent caught headlines earlier this year as he was charged for allegedly breaching the FA's betting rules on 232 occasions, which were said to have occurred between February 2017 and January 2021.
With the final taking place last Sunday, Drake lost a $1 million bet on the outcome of the 2022 FIFA World Cup final.
He put his money on Argentina winning, and while they did win the match, it was not as quickly as the rapper would have hoped. As shown in a screenshot posted to his Instagram, Drake bet in the 1x2 market which does not include extra time and the result is determined based on the score after 90 minutes of play.
Unfortunately for the Canadian, the match was tied at 2-2 by that point which meant that Drake will not win $2.75 million and instead go home with nothing.
This is not the first time that Drake has bet big on football. Earlier in October, Drake placed a $600 000 on Barcelona winning El Clasico but the Catalan giants ended up losing 3-1.
