Daniels: We wish the Chiefs fans were there

Cape Town Spurs centre-back Clayton Daniels would have preferred to face Soweto Giants Kaizer Chiefs in front of their supporters and not behind closed doors.

Amakhosi host the Urban Warriors in a DStv Premiership clash that will be taking place tomorrow at FNB Stadium, at 18:30.

As part of their punishment for their fan's behaviour of throwing missiles into the pitch, the Glamour Boys have been ordered by the Premier Soccer League DC to play their Wednesday league match without spectators.

Daniels says the decision gives an advantage to Chiefs players as they will be playing without worrying about the pressure their fans often put them under.

"We wish the fans were there you know," Daniels tells KickOff.

"Ja we are not happy you know because it's always good to play in front of the people.

"I have played games like this before, and it's not the same.

"As much as we are sports people, professional people, we are also there to entertain people, so for fans not to be there it's not right.

"You know the big teams' players they feel under pressure when their fans are there.

"Especially when you are a big club like Kaizer Chiefs, immediately when you don't do so well during a match the fans turn on you, and you feel under pressure, that's where maybe we were going to capitalize.

"But now there will be no fans to put them under pressure when they are playing bad so it's going to be another difficult game where we will have to be mentally strong.

"But one thing we are going to have control of is how are we going to approach the game and be ready to put up the fight.

"Hopefully we are going to do all those things like we did against Orlando Pirates and get the results."
