Daniels: Nobody expects us to beat Pirates

Cape Town Spurs defender Clayton Daniels says the underdog tag might just be what they need to beat Orlando Pirates on Friday.

The Urban Warriors will be looking for their first win in the 2023/24 Premier Soccer League Season.

The two historic clubs meet in the last 16 stages of the brand-new Carling Knockout.

The Black Label sponsored cup has already seen an upset with Mpumalanga province outfit TS Galaxy eliminating Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday.

Pirates and Spurs encounter at Orlando Stadium will kick-off at 19:30.

"I have recovered from my injury and I'm now good to go," Daniels tells KickOff.

"I think it will be a good game to play, remember it's a cup game, so we've got nothing to lose but everything to gain.

"There is a lot that we can gain in this game. There are a lot of positives that can come out of this game.

"You win this game you get momentum; you gain confidence that you will carry to the league games you know and try to rectify our mistakes that we've done there.

"Pirates they've just won the MTN8 they are high on confidence, I know they have got a great team, and their coach has built a good game.

"For us, we will just go there and do our best, nobody expects us to win today so that might work to our advantage.

"Every footballer plays to win. We give our best in every game, hopefully, we will come out with a lot of positivity to build our season up.

"This game will set us up nicely for our next league games.

"Hopefully the things that we've been doing at training we will see them today."
