Egyptian giants Zamalek have confirmed the exit of manager Christian Gross less than a week after guiding the club to the 2019 CAF Confederation Cup title.
Gross, 64, joined Zamalek in April 2018 on a one-year contract and became a fan favourite amongst the White Knight supporters with an enterprising style of play despite him arriving during an unstable period of form.
Under his guidance, the former Tottenham Hotspurs manager won the Saudi-Egyptian Super Cup and the Confederations Cup crown - with an overall record of 31 victories, 11 draws and only five defeats in 47 games across all compettions.
Gross was reportedly the second-highest paid manager in African football with a staggering monthly salary of $100K (R1.4m) a month as seen in the gallery below.
Zamalek chairman Mortada Mansour confirmed his contract would not be renewed after their 1-1 draw with Al Intag Al Harbi, which left the five-time African champions in third place, seven points behind leaders Al Ahly albeit with two games in hand.
