Mamelodi Sundowns have struggled to replicate their incredible feat of clinching the CAF Champions League crown from 2016, and one star has since sought to explain why.

The Brazilians have since made it their mission to try to return the trophy to South African shores, having reached the knockout stages on three of the last four editions of the competition.
Their recent campaign was once again unravelled at the quarterfinals, with Al Ahly having proven too strong for Pitso Mosimane's charges to reach that elusive second CAF final.
However, midfielder Themba Zwane is adamant they are holding their own on the continent, and merely lacking in minor areas that can easily be improved.

"I think we're doing well [in the Champions League], it's just those small things of losing a little bit of focus in the last minutes, and those are the things we need to improve on," Zwane tells snl24.com/kickoff.
"But, overall, we're doing well and we're coming alright. We can still improve, and we also need to score more goals when we're playing at home and concede less away.
"Those are the sorts of things that will help us, [because] it helped us in 2016 – I remember when we were away, we were winning our games and we didn't concede that much.

"So this season in CAF, we were conceding too much away and when teams came this side, they would defend a lot – they parked the bus and made it difficult for us, and by the time we tried to penetrate, we conceded again and it became more difficult.
"So, these are the things we need to improve on – focus in the last minutes, try not to concede more goals when playing away and scoring more here at home."
