Ruud Krol breaks silence on Etoile Du Sahel speculation

The 10-time Tunisian league champions have been without head coach since Kais Zouaghi was sacked after their CAF Champions League and Tunisian Cup exits shortly before the coronavirus enforced suspension.

And reports in Tunisian media claim Krol has agreed to become the new leader of Sousse-based outfit when football resumes in the North African nation.

Having managed CS Saxien, Club Africain, Esperance de Tunis and the Tunisia national team, the former Orlando Pirates boss holds vast experience of the league.

However, he rejected the notion that he's set to return and replace interim coaches Imed Ben Younes and Naoufel Chbil.

"They [the media] are always talking! All that's happened is someone from the club called me and nothing more," Krol tells snl24.com/kickoff.

The Dutchman, who's lifted 11 major titles in Africa since his arrival with the Egypt U-23 Olympic team in 1994 claims he's biding his time for a suitable project after seven different moves since leaving Pirates in 2011.

"I've had a lot of offers but I want to go to a club that is competitive but wants to play at the top of the league and it must be a club where I want to build up a team, like a project," Krol explains.

"You see like Liverpool it didn't happen over one year, how many years Klopp built up this team to arrive and achieve this kind of record-breaking run of winning matches.

"That is the impossible that a lot of presidents think that it is possible to do [overnight] but there is no coach that has the ability to arrive one day and be successful the next with a fantastic team.

"If you have all the money in the world to buy the players, it's still sometimes difficult."
