Pitso Mosimane's Al Ahly are closing in on Raja Athletic Club forward Soufiane Rahimi in a deal worth a reported $5-million.
Mosimane has not his desire of landing a high-profile player to bolster his attacking options at the Red Devils which has notably been blunt during the 2020/21 campaign thus far.
The club's top scorer in the league Mohamed Sherif has scored nine goals in 19 games, while Salah Mohsen netted twice and Marwan Mohsen has yet to open his account this season.
Walter Bwalya has scored twice in 17 appearances since his reported R17-million move from El Gouna and the failed pursuit of Gaston Sirino from Mamelodi Sundowns has seen the Red Devils turn their attention to Rahimi.
The 24-year-old Morocco international is widely considered as one of the brightest talents in Africa after winning the 2020 Botola Player of the Season as Raja won the league and the 2020 CHAN Player of the Tournament in Morocco's triumph.
According to Moroccan news outlet Al-Mukhtab, the Club of the Century submitted a $5-million (R70-million) bid for the wide-forward and should the move materialise - it would rank as the biggest transfer in Botola history.
The Egyptian giants have already done business with Raja, with their former captain Badr Banoun leaving for Cairo during the off-season in a $2m (R28m) transfer.
Rahimi has scored 33 goals and registered 31 assists in 116 games for the Green Eagles since graduating from the club's academy.
