Mamelodi Sundowns and Pyramids FC played a to a 1-1 draw in the first leg of the CAF Champions League at Loftus Versfeld.
Masandawana named two changes from the win over Magesi FC last Sunday, as Grant Kekana and Tashreeq Matthews earned a recall.
Sundowns were denied the opener in the tenth minute when goalkeeper Ahmed El Shenawy palmed a near post shot from Iqraam Rayners away for a corner-kick.
Congolese ace Fiston Mayele replied with the visitors first chance six minutes later as he toe-poked a through pass into the wide channels narrowly beyond the bottom-corner.
Mayele missed another golden chance few minutes later when he lashed a cutback to the centre of the area well over the top with the goal at his mercy.
The home team made a substitution ten minutes to halftime and had Matthews make way for Bafana Bafana international Jayden Adams.
Both teams continued to go at each other as the first period began to wind down, but the opener failed to arrive and entered the break score-less.
Sundowns were inspired in the second half and took the lead when Ribeiro latched onto a loose ball to the wide of the area and curled in the top corner for his third goal of the competition.
The Egyptians attempted a fast response moments later, but the all-conquering South African champions tracked back and cleared their lines.
With time running out, Pyramids didn’t stop probing the host through amongst others Walid El Karti and Ahmed El Sayed but the Brazilians held on tight.
Sundowns were undone in the dying minutes of added time when El Karti sneaked in at the back-post and nodded in a cross-cum delivery, giving Pyramids a vital away goal ahead of the second leg next weekend.
