After getting knocked out at the first hurdle, snl24.com/kickoff looks back at Banyana Banyana's maiden FIFA Women's World Cup appearance in numbers.
1 – Thembi Kgatlana scored Banyana's only goal in the competition, a stunning goal in the opening match against Spain. It was Banyana's only reason to celebrate in the competition as they went on to lose all their matches.
6 – As things stand, Banyana are the worst behaved side in the competition with six yellow cards shown to players.
8 – Banyana were not so great at the back, conceding eight goals in their three group matches. The most they conceded in a game is four against Germany in their final round robin encounter.
17 – Andile Dlamini may have conceded seven goals in the two matches she played, but it does not mean she was an under-performer. She made 17 saves in 180 minutes for the team.
19 – Banyana coach Desiree Ellis used a total of 19 players in the team's three group matches. Goalkeeper Mapaseka Mpuru, defenders Tiisetso Makhubela, Karabo Dhlamini and Bongeka Gamede did not feature during the competition.
30.3 – Midfielder Kholosa Biyana covered more ground than any other Banyana player in the group stages, going a little over 30kms. She was hard running in the middle of the park.
33 – Noko Matlou, who has served the senior women's team for more than 10 years, was the oldest Banyana player at the World Cup. Once a lethal striker, Matlou played all of Banyana's matches in central defence alongside captain Janine van Wyk.
