Tovey: Afcon draw kind to Bafana

Bafana were drawn in Group K alongside favourites Morroco, Zimbabwe and Liberia for the 2023 Afcon qualifiers.

The top two finishers will book a spot in next year's showpiece continental tournament in the Ivory Coast.

Tovey, who remains the only Bafana captain to have lifted the Afcon trophy says South Africa could not have asked for a better group.

"I think it was very kind to us, I think it's a good group," Tovey tells KickOff.

"Zimbabwe is close to us geographically, and we know what Zimbabwe are about.

"Morocco will always be a difficult draw, but at the same time it's a nice venue to go to, the facilities are good so that should be okay.

"Liberia, we should be able to take care of them home and away, it's not a bad draw.

"Like I said there are no easy groups in Africa anymore, all teams are competitive.

"You've got to make sure you win your home games.

"You definitely need to get results away in Zimbabwe and Liberia."
