'This was his best performance' Tlale heaps praise on magic Morena

Former South Africa and Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper John Tlale reserved special praise for veteran defender Thapelo Moreno as Bafana Bafana sealed a 2-1 win over Morocco in an AFCON qualifier at FNB Stadium on Saturday.

Bafana stretched their unbeaten run to seven matches after defeating the 2022 World Cup semi-finalists to finish top of Group K in their qualifying campaign.

"They did very well, and they outclassed them if we look at the way they played," Tlale tells KickOff.

"We were the better side from the beginning, so we didn't win by fluke.

"They played very well; they deserve the win.

"Most of the players played well on Saturday, but Thapelo Morena deserves a special mention for me, he did very well.

"He did everything right. He was supporting and displayed his pace when overlapping, he was attacking, and he was making those crosses.

"I think this was the best performance of his international career.

"I think in the past, consistency was Bafana's biggest enemy. They were undermining opponents.

"But on Saturday, they wanted to prove a point that even though Morocco, who is the highest-ranked international team in Africa, can be beaten.

"Playing with players who are used to playing against African clubs assisted Bafana a lot on Saturday.

"I think we are on the right path now."
