"Sacking Broos now would be suicidal"

Cavin Johnson says the South African Football Association [SAFA] will be shooting themselves in the foot if they decide to change the Bafana Bafana coach at this point.

The organisation has been under pressure from some fans to replace the Belgian.

Johnson says by taking the national team to next year's AFCON finals Hugo Broos has done what he was employed for.

"It was good seeing Bafana qualifying for AFCON but I thought they could have done it at home," Johnson tells KickOff.

"But look for me personally, from a coach's point of view you will be shooting yourself in the foot if you decide to employ another coach.

"Whether he is good or bad you got to understand the technical director of SAFA has to make those decisions and see who can bring something better to the table.

"I believe he's got a contract until 2024 or 2025 Hugo Broos, and his mandate was to get to AFCON.

"His contract is probably very sealed and sound now that he managed to take the country to AFCON.

"What he should do now as a coach is to manage the calendar until next year.

"Number one, you got to wait and see what group you are in.

"Number two, you got to get as much preparation as possible in order to be a force to be reckoned with at AFCON.

"The preparation is key now, you also have to buy in all the clubs because as you know they are always busy, especially Sundowns.

"The current Bafana Bafana players I've seen them, and I know a lot of them, and they are a good young crop of players.

"I was impressed with yesterday's mentality as well."
