Remembering Thomas Madigage

Adored by many fans for his skills during his heyday as a midfielder at Ezenkosi and respected by his counterparts for his coaching abilities and being one of the nicest guys in the business, Tommy’s sudden passing came as a shock to football fans around the country.

Born in Atteridgeville on 14 November 1970, he made his name at Cosmos where he made his debut and won the League during the memorable 1987 season.

After a short spell in Switzerland with FC Zurich he re-joined Cosmos. On 10 April, 1993 Madigage made his international debut against Mauritius, but the four international caps he won did little to justify his talents.

After playing for SuperSport United between 1997 and 2003, Madigage hung up his boots and joined the club as an assistant coach.

When Gordon Igesund was appointed as Bafana coach, he appointed Madigage as his assistant and worked with him until his sudden passing at the age of 41.

KICK OFF will forever remember Chincha Guluva.
