Kodisang still on Bafana's radar, insists Broos

Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has confirmed that the national team is tracking the progress of Portugal-based South African winger Kobamelo Kodisang.

The 23-year-old has been a surprise omission from the national team set-up in recent months, prompting questions to be raised on whether the national team coach is monitoring the player's performances.

Kodisang has represented South Africa at junior level and was part of the South Africa football team at the 2021 Olympics. He's also been in sterling form while on loan at Moreirense, with six goals and three assists under his belt for the Portuguese second-division side, but was omitted from the latest Bafana Bafana squad to face Mozambique and Angola.

"Kodisang was playing in the Olympics, and after that he was in Bragga playing in the third division in Portugal, he didn't play," explained Broos.

"And now suddenly he's good, okay. Let him continue being good and then we will a very good player in march.

"So I don't want to take Kodisang to replace another one because the players who were there [in the Bafana squad] in September satisfied me. well, except some others, but they satisfied me."

"But again, we have an eye on Kodisang, when he goes on like this, he certainly will be there in march."

The Bafana Bafana squad will report to the national team camp on Sunday, 13 November to begin preparations for the first friendly against Mozambique to be played on Thursday, 17 November at the Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga.

The second friendly against Angola will be played on Sunday, 20 November at the same venue.
