Crowie reveals how SA beating Nigeria to teenage prodigy

Born to a Nigerian father and a South African mother, Dokunmu is currently plying his trade in the Netherlands' Eredivisie.

South Africa are making a bold attempt to lure the 16-year-old to Crowie's junior national team.

"We sent call-up letters to quite a few foreign-based players," Crowie tells KickOff.

"Now, I would only like to talk when they arrive, it's no use talking about somebody, and you don't know what the situation is, whether they will arrive or not.

"We've got videos of him as well, and the analysis team have analysed many of his games.

"He is playing in Holland for Vitesse, and he is a winger.

"At this stage, all of them are coming [foreign-based players].

"But to me, what's important is to see not to hear.

"We have made contact with the parents as well; we spoke to the parents as well.

"The parents are also overseas, and they are quite eager.

"They actually notified us about him.

"So, like I said let's wait and see."

The TotalEnergies Under-17 African Cup of Nations 2023 will be played between April 29 and May 19, 2023.
