Broos reveals what Bafana have to improve

Head coach Hugo Broos has revealed what Bafana has to do better to defeat Liberia as the two teams prepare to face-off in an all-important Afcon qualifier on Tuesday night.

After a shock 2-2 draw against The Lone Star on Friday, Bafana are now in 3rd place in Group K behind Liberia and Morrocco, and have a mountain to climb in a bid to secure a spot in the 2023 African Cup of Nations (Afcon).

Broos, who was visibly disappointed his side's effort in the first round at Orlando Stadium, has called for better game management from Bafana squad.

"[We have] to play better in the second half, I think this was the mistake we made [on Friday]," Broos was quoted by SAFA Media during Monday' pre-match press conference.

"We were 2-0 up in the first half, besides the free-kick [which Liberia scored] there was no danger for us, not at all. Except those two goals [that Bafana scored], we still had a few more chances. So if we take our chances, then its 3-0 or 4-0 and the game is finished. Liberia [would] not have the chance to come back.

"But yes, if you play a second-half like we did; with less aggression and giving spaces to Liberia then we have problem. We were a little bit unlucky with the first goal [we conceded], it was an own goal and the second was a fantastic shot – when you try it ten time, maybe you'd succeed only once and that was Friday night.

"We didn't really have problems, really problems concerns chances that Liberia had.

"But again think it has been a good lesson for us - that the game is 90 minutes or eve more, so when you're 2-0 up or the opponent doesin't have many chances that doesin't mean that the game is over, no you have to go for 90 minutes. That's what we have to do tomorrow [tonight] and we shall do .

The clash will be played at the SKD sports Complex in Monrovia, Liberia's capital at 18:00 (South African time).
