Broos reveals challenge for Lyle Foster

Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos says striker Lyle Foster will have to work his way back onto the starting line-up with Zakhele Lepasa proving to be reliable up-front in recent matches.

Bafana defeated a star-studded Morocco side thanks to goals from Percy Tau and Zakhele Lepasa while Hakim Ziyech pulled one back for the Atlas Lions on Saturday night at FNB Stadium.

Lepasa's decisive goal was his second in consecutive matches since replacing Burnley's Foster who missed the recent qualifier due to the Premier League side's pre-season camp.

Broos said Foster would have to work his way back into the line-up when he returns to the team.

"When you have two or several players in one position that makes it difficult for everyone in the sense that they have to perform," Broos told journalists.

"It's easy when you are the only one in that position, whatever you do, you are the only one. Now everyone knows that, 'I have to perform. If I don't perform I there is someone else who will take that position.'

"So there is a competitiveness. Everyone in the team feels that, 'when I'm on the team I have to perform,' and that makes the quality go up.

"So again I know, Lyle [Foster] is not here okay it's up to Lyle now. He will be here again in the next camo and it's up to him. It's up to Zakhele.

"It's up to everyone in the camp. It not that 'okay, you will play every game'. This is not the way you get results.

"Everyone has to do their job without thinking, 'I'm the standard player, whatever happens I am always in the team', and there is no anger between the players. It's a bunch of friends. How they treat each other. You have to see in the dressing room. it's crazy. Even the boys who are on the bench [are motivated].

"This is something we have worked on in the last months or years and now we have this group that. 'okay I'm playing today but I have to perform because I know that my friend is on the bench and I don't perform he will take my place.'

"When you can do that and when you can keep that you will have a strong team."
