Erik ten Hag puts five stars up for sale

Incoming Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has reportedly put five players up for sale ahead of his planned arrival at Old Trafford.

Recent reports have suggested that an overhaul of sorts is set to take place at United, with a large number of outgoings are expected, while a few new faces are expected arrive at the club.

Back-to-back defeats to Liverpool and Arsenal have not alleviated any pressure for the Mancunians as their chances of a top-four finish, and UEFA Champions League football next season, took yet more hard knocks.

While their troubles continue on the pitch, the Red Devils hierarchy is seemingly already making plans for next season, with Ten Hag said to have been given a budget of between £100 million and £150 million (between R2 billion and R3 billion) for the next transfer window.

According to ESPN, this figure may not be enough for the signings the club have planned, so the Dutchman will look to raise more money through the sales of five players, namely: Anthony Martial (who is currently out on loan at Sevilla), Eric Bailly, Alex Telles, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and Phil Jones.

Ten Hag is said to have identified several positions that need strengthening at United, and is understood to want a new centre-back, right-back, central midfielder and striker at the club.

Before that, though, United have a crunch match against Chelsea on Thursday night, and will be desperate for three points in their bid to play Champions League football next season.
