The Soweto giants are set to face each other twice in different competitions during the month of November – in the Telkom Knockout on Saturday and also in the Absa Premiership on November 9.
Ngobe believes it's games like these that have cost coaches their jobs in the past.
"I did sense that Pirates will draw Kaizer Chiefs," Ngobe tells snl24.com/kickoff ahead of the cup clash.
"Ja I did sense that here it is going to be difficult. But between the two teams it's no longer about what you are playing for, it's all for pride. So definitely this is going to be tough, I mean the cup game.
"Either one must lose somewhere, and the other win somewhere. But a team cannot lose both. This is going to be difficult for the coaches.
"One coach will be shown the door here. These are the kind of fixtures that decide a coach's future. This is where supporters turn against a coach, for losing to Chiefs or to Pirates two games in a row.
"I mean end of the day the Derby has to be played but judging by the way these fixtures are so close... eish, it's tough, and they were not expecting this but at the end of the day these two teams must meet.
"In the league game maybe there might be a draw but in the cup games it's going to a penalty shootout. One team must be knocked out. It's sudden death in the cup."
Although Amakhosi will be favourites going into both encounters, Ngobe believes the Buccaneers will hold their own against the in-form Glamour Boys.
"To tell you the truth, I think as much as Pirates is struggling now, it's going to be difficult for Kaizer Chiefs to beat Pirates... it's going to be difficult, and these boys they'll be playing their hearts all for them not to lose the Chiefs game," Ngobe reckons.
"Chiefs is going to get a tough time, I don't want to lie to you now. So it will depend on who is stronger than who pound for pound. But it's going to be a good game.
"Anyway I don't wish to see Pirates losing but ja it's going to be tough looking at Kaizer Chiefs. Kaizer Chiefs does right on occasions, but I'm thinking it's going to be a good game."
